What is Thigh Lift Surgery?
Many of life’s changes can cause unwanted excess skin and fat in the lower portion of your body. A surgical thigh lift, or thighplasty, can improve areas of sagging in the inner and outer thigh region and restore a more pleasing body contour.
Fatty deposits on the inner and outer thighs are especially resistant to diet and exercise. Many patients become discouraged at having lost unwanted pounds without seeing a significant change in the lower body. The overall proportions of the body may be unbalanced. In these cases, a thigh lift can successfully trim the excess fat, skin and tissue in the thighs to achieve a more attractive balance and symmetry to the body.
Types of Thighplasty Procedures
There are two different types of thigh lifts that target unique areas of the thigh. During your consultation, one of our plastic surgeons will determine which procedure would best achieve your desired goals.
Thigh Lift Procedure
General anesthesia is administered for your comfort. Thigh lift is usually performed in our in- office AAAASF accredited surgical center. Sutures placed within underlying tissues help to form and support the newly shaped contours. Additional sutures and other wound closing methods will be used on the exterior to assure proper healing after treatment. We will apply dressings/bandages to your incisions to assist with proper healing.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Thigh Lift?
The ideal candidate for a thigh lift is at a healthy and stable weight. While preparing for thigh lift, you will be asked to avoid taking certain medications or adjust your current medications that you are using. You must stop smoking and avoid taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs as this can increase your bleeding during the procedure.
You also must have realistic expectations for what your thigh lift can accomplish and should be willing to commit to leading a healthy lifestyle.
